Promo for Gossip Girl 4x12

Gossip Girl returns Monday January 24th!!!

Ughhhh I hate the winter hiatus! Things were just starting to get interesting again! Also, DNW Dan/Blair!! Just because it's one of the only romances that has yet do be done does not mean that it should be done!

Gossip Girl Season 4 Episode 12: The Kids Are Not All Right
A former associate of Chuck's (Ed Westwick) father, Russell Thorpe (Boatman) – along with his daughter Raina (Sumpter) – returns to Manhattan with some unfinished business for our Upper East Siders. Serena (Blake Lively) and Chuck join forces against Lily (Kelly Rutherford). Blair (Leighton Meester) realizes that her mother, Eleanor (guest star Margaret Colin), may be her key to becoming a future CEO. Nate (Chace Crawford) worries that his father, The Captain (guest star Sam Robards), is having a little too much fun and not taking his parole seriously. Penn Badgley and Matthew Settle also star.
Allan Kroeker directed the episode written by K.J.

Gossip Girl has always been known for making witty pop culture jabs in naming its episodes. At the end of 2010, Lily Van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford) was once again exposed for another round of duplicitous upper East Side parental shenanigans. Then Gossip Girl went on break for the holiday leaving us to believe that The Kids are All Right, much like the movie. Blair (Leighton Meester) and Dan (Penn Badgley) were comfortably washing dishes, bonding over artistic interests. Chuck (Ed Westwick) was off to the great down under to find uncle Jack Bass (Desmond Harrington) to rescue his company. Unfortunately, and of course everyone already knew this, "The Kids Are Not All Right," as declared in the title of Season 4 Episode 12.
So relationships aside, how will Gossip Girl return in 2011? Expect drama to break out as the children wage war against the parents, and by parents we just mean one in particular – Lily. Right now, it doesn't look like Desmond Harrington will be returning to Gossip Girl this season. So instead of a Jack Bass return, we can expect a "game" of Chuck and Blair proportions used to win back Chuck's company from Lily. Will it be enough? The previews (shown below) hint at a threat of Lily being sent to prison. What is it about the Van der Woodsen's and prison anyway? And what about Rufus (Matthew Settle)? Is he going to finally man back up and assert himself? It just seems that Lily does whatever she wants to do and Rufus throws a hissy fit and she apologizes. Maybe it's time for their relationship to go through a painful end. It would be tragic, and it would leave Settle outside the main story arc much like Jenny (Taylor Momsen). One thing is certain (if only cliché): Lily won't be able to buy her way out of this one – even if she succeeds in selling Bass Industries and gets a hefty payday.
Will Serena and Dan really get back together? Serena selected Dan (Yay!) over Nate (Chace Crawford), but Dan told her to take some time to herself so that he's not also playing second fiddle (sins of the father I tell you, he's becoming a puppy dog like Rufus). The real life couple of Badgley and Blake have parted ways (some rumors guessing her Green Lantern relationship with Ryan Reynolds lead to Reynolds' break with Scarlett Johansson and Blake and Badgley's break). What would be more interesting would be for Blair and Dan to develop a relationship. There's no denying that 'Chair' is the ultimate Gossip Girl romance, but Blair's yet to have a real stint with Brooklyn. Yet, she always finds a way to forge an "unlikely" alliance with Dan. Will her artistic googly eyes at Mr. Humphrey at the end of Episode 11, "The Townie," mean anything more than staying amiable friends?
